The Autocue CON-FC/USB/001 is a professional broadcast teleprompter foot controller that, surprisingly, does not behave like a standard HID device.
This article documents a complete reverse engineering analysis of the controller, including hardware identification, USB communication, FTDI serial decoding, baud rate analysis and reconstruction of its unusual PWM-based byte stream protocol.

Using a MacBook Pro with Apple Silicon and Python-based tooling, the device was analyzed down to the protocol level, revealing how analog pedal pressure is translated into a continuous serial data stream for proportional teleprompter speed control.

The analysis also explores the internal STM8 microcontroller architecture, FT230XS USB-UART bridge implementation and potential applications for custom teleprompter, scrolling or foot-controlled input systems.
